01 Overview

The heavy lifting, without the truck rental markup

Plenty of Main Line moves don’t need a full-service mover — they need strong, experienced hands for two hours. Maybe you rented a Penske for a cross-country drive and just want it loaded right. Maybe a POD is sitting in the driveway in Paoli and you don’t fancy carrying a sleeper sofa up the ramp yourself. Premier Movers offers labor-only crews for exactly that: you provide the truck, container or trailer, and we provide the muscle and the method.

Main Line neighbors trust Premier Movers for a premium move on one written flat rate.

These aren’t casual hands pulled off a corner. They’re the same uniformed Premier movers who run our full-service jobs, so you get real load-planning, not just lifting. Where the weight rides, how the tiers strap together, which pieces get padded — that’s the difference between a load that arrives intact and one that shifts on the first ramp off I-76. We bring our own pads, shrink wrap, dollies and straps; you don’t have to source a thing.

Labor-only covers the range of self-move situations here:

  • Loading a rental truck for a DIY drive to New York, Pittsburgh or down the I-95 corridor
  • Packing a POD or container tight for a carrier to haul
  • Unloading at the new house when you drove the truck but don’t want to carry it in
  • Reloading after a renovation, or shifting a household within a storage unit

Billing is our standard crew rate — $145/hr for two movers or $195/hr for three, with the one-hour minimum waived — and a $150 deposit holds the crew and date, credited to the final labor bill. We’ll disassemble and reassemble beds and large furniture as part of the labor if you need it, and we bring the pads, straps and dollies so you’re not making a hardware-store run the morning of. One note worth saying plainly: on labor-only jobs we’re handling, not transporting your goods, so coverage applies to our work loading the truck rather than the drive you make afterward — if you’d rather we own the whole move end to end, our full-service option does exactly that. Get a flat-rate quote and tell us what you’ve rented and when it’s arriving.

What comes with it

  • Our own muscle and know-how loading or unloading your rental truck, pod or trailer — you supply the vehicle
  • Labor-only crews at $145/hr for two movers or $195/hr for three, with the one-hour minimum waived
  • Professional load planning so weight rides safe and the truck packs tight for the highway
  • Pads, shrink wrap, dollies and load straps brought by the crew, not left for you to source
  • Disassembly or reassembly of beds and large furniture as part of the labor when you need it
  • A $150 deposit to lock the crew and date, credited to the final labor bill

How the price gets set

We give you one flat rate on paper after a short walkthrough or video estimate, drawn from the inventory you actually have rather than a clock running by the hour. The price on the sheet is the whole price, with nothing tacked on later.

02 How we protect your move

We treat your belongings like ours

Long before the first box is loaded, our truck arrives stocked to guard furniture, protect floors, and cushion anything fragile in those old Main Line homes.

Quilted pads

Dressers, tables, and headboards get wrapped and padded on the spot, before anything budges.

Stretch film

Drawers stay latched, cushions stay spotless, and upholstery rides sealed off from dust and Pennsylvania weather.

Floor & doorway guards

Runners, rail wraps, and jamb pads go in first so hardwood, banisters, and trim come through untouched.

Built-to-fit crating

Mirrors, glass tops, framed art, and flat screens travel in crates made for them, corners and all.

Break-down & rebuild

Bed frames, tables, and oversized furniture come apart for the haul and go back together at the new address.

Straps, dollies & gear

The right tie-downs and equipment for narrow staircases, finished basements, and the heavy stuff — never a shortcut.

03 Why us

A licensed mover, never a middleman

Hire Premier and the truck in your driveway is ours, the crew on the ramp is ours, and our name is on the paperwork. Brokers do none of that — they auction your move to the cheapest bidder and disappear.

Premier Movers
  • Premier’s own trucks and our full-time, background-checked movers
  • A single written flat rate — the figure you sign is the figure you owe
  • One crew handles both ends, from your old door to your new one
  • PA PUC household-goods authority plus USDOT/MC, fully insured
  • A Wayne office and a single point of contact from first call to last box
What a broker does
  • Auctions your job off to whichever carrier bids cheapest
  • Springs new fees and fresh quotes on you come move day
  • Sends a crew you have never met to load your home
  • Leaves you guessing who is actually on the hook
  • Puts a call center between you and the people doing the lifting

Common questions on this service

I rented my own truck — will you just do the heavy lifting?
Yes. Labor-only is one of our most-booked services. You bring the U-Haul, Penske, POD or trailer, and our crew loads or unloads it. It's billed at our regular crew rate — $145/hr for two movers or $195/hr for three — with the one-hour minimum waived, so a quick unload doesn't cost a half-day.
Can you load a POD or moving container instead of a truck?
Definitely. We load containers and trailers regularly for Main Line clients doing their own long-distance move or staging a renovation. The same load-planning that keeps a moving truck stable keeps a POD packed tight so nothing shifts when the carrier hauls it away.
Will my stuff be packed properly if I'm driving it myself?
That's the whole point of hiring our crew. We pad-wrap furniture, strap the load in tiers, and put the weight where it belongs so a rental truck handles right on I-476 or the Turnpike. Note that on labor-only jobs we're not the transporting carrier, so cargo coverage applies to handling, not the drive.
