Moving on after decades in the same home
Leaving a house you’ve lived in for thirty or forty years is one of the hardest moves there is, and it’s rarely just a move — it’s a downsizing. The four-bedroom colonial in Devon becomes a two-bedroom at a retirement community in Bryn Mawr, and someone has to decide what comes along. Premier Movers has guided Main Line families through this since 2011, and we treat it with the patience it deserves. No rushing, no strangers, no hired-on hands — the same in-house crew, working at your pace.
Main Line neighbors trust our Wayne moving crew for a premium move on one written flat rate.
We help with the whole arc, not just the lifting. Before the move, our crew can work room by room on a plan for what goes to the new place, what’s passed to children and grandchildren, and what’s donated or hauled away. On move day we pack, transport and unpack, set up the beds, and arrange the new apartment so the day ends with a livable home instead of a stack of cartons.
The communities here have their own rules, and we know them:
- Certificates of insurance filed ahead for 55+ and continuing-care residences
- Move-in windows and elevator times booked through their management
- Furniture disassembled at the old home and reassembled and placed at the new one
- Care taken on narrow apartment corridors and shared lobbies with floor and wall protection
Pricing is the same honest structure we use for everyone — $145/hr for two movers or $195/hr for three, or a flat rate opening at $395 for a small apartment, with packing billed on the same clock and no senior surcharge or padded fees. A $150 deposit holds the date and credits to the final bill, and goods are covered at $0.60/lb released value standard with full-value protection and up to $1,000,000 cargo coverage per shipment available. We also keep the family in the loop — adult children often live out of state and are coordinating this remotely, so we’ll confirm the plan, the timeline and the price with whoever’s organizing the move, not just leave a parent to manage the details alone. Get a flat-rate quote and we’ll build a plan around the move, the new community’s rules, and the calm day it ought to be.

How the price gets set
We give you one flat rate on paper after a short walkthrough or video estimate, drawn from the inventory you actually have rather than a clock running by the hour. The price on the sheet is the whole price, with nothing tacked on later.
